Sisters

Today, I finished matching outfits for Princess Klaire and Her Majesty Kyndall. (who has yet to arrive) I hope to take a photo of Klaire in hers next week. We will be attempting to keep her overnight for the first time....wish us luck! And a prayer or two wouldn't hurt either! *grin*
I'm in the home stretch of finishing a quilt made from Klaire's embroidered and monogrammed onesies. I hope to finish that up this weekend.

We played outside Wednesday since the weather was soooo nice! Today, the temps have gone back to seasonal and it's hard to adapt, but that's Arkansas weather!

Mama's Got a Brand New Bag

I finally made time to make myself a purse/bag, whatever you call the thing you carry your life around in. I was surprised at how easy it was because I was expecting wailing and gnashing of teeth before it was over. I found a pattern online, and printed it out, but misplaced it, so I found essentially the same pattern at Walmart for less than $1.00 and purchased it.
It's made from Jason Yenter's Paradise fabric line, and something I picked up somewhere else. I've been saving the Paradise for while, just for something special. I like how the teal straps and lining bring out the teal in the daisies.
The pattern didn't call for a lining, but I made one anyway. It called for a 12" zipper, but that seemed too short, so next time I'll use a longer one. I had to do a little additional work to get it to fit just right, but nothing wail worthy.
Next time I'll also make the straps a little wider. Even with fusible webbing they seem a bit insubstantial. All in all, I'm happy with it. So, now I have to find the perfect pocketbook pattern to make. I want something that will hold my phone and my billfold but be small enough to fit inside. That way I can take it out and run inside a store without taking my "suitcase" with me. *grin*

A Few Little Things

I haven't posted any of my latest sewing projects. Hmmmm, well there are reasons of course. The first is that they were Christmas gifts and I didn't want them seen before hand. That is what these are....

I've never sewn much with knit before and it was interesting to say the least. After I figured out how to actually work with it, I enjoyed the process very much and have more in the works.  These are all for our little Kyndall Hope who is scheduled to arrive March 4, 2015.

The second reason I haven't posted anything is because I've just been BUSY. Life is full and I haven't been able to do much quilting at all. I'm still working on quilting the Christmas top I started in the fall. It wound up being 97x97 and a monster to maneuver on my little ole machine. I'm getting there, but I don't plan to EVER make such a large quilt again.

And the third reason is that I just forgot to take pictures of what I made.  The old brain is not as sharp as it once was folks.  Not only that, but it really didn't enter my mind to blog while in the frenzy of Christmas preparations and sewing. Guess I'm not as enthusiastic as I used to be, but that's ok.

I did manage to do something very special for my kids this year. I scanned countless photos of my ancestors, and created a book for them with names, dates and photos. I believe it was a hit for both of them and their spouses!
So what I have on tap now is finishing the quilt, doing a couple of knit items for Klaire and Kyndall, and starting the new Ocean BOM by Quiltart designs. I LOVE her paper pieced patterns and ideas. She is one talented cookie! Through the year, I'm hoping to quilt at least two of the waiting tops.
