Table Redo

I finally finished the "remodeling"of my little table.

The process:

I removed the slats from the top, and kept the original screws for future use.

I then spray painted the base with this lovely Ocean Blue color. This is what I wanted my chairs to be, but decided to just keep the green. And in the end, it would have been too much blue anyway.

Next, SR and I took the board and trim we purchased at Home Depot, cut it, and assembled the trim around the edges using wood glue and finishing nails.

Staining came next, then I gave it three coats of oil based sealer in a gloss finish. Why the gloss? Because that's what I already had.

We took those original screws, and attached the top to the base, and then I roughed it up just a little to allow the black to peek through.

Let There Be Light

In my kitchen window, I had a droopy curtain. The main purpose of this droopy curtain was to block the sun as it blinded me in the evening while washing dishes, cooking, etc.

Notice the pretty little cardinals and chickadees....

Since we now have a roof on the porch, the sun doesn't blind me. Hoo Rayyy! And I don't have to fight that awful curtain. One of these days, I'll make a faux roman shade to place there, but in the meantime, this is much better. Don't you agree?

You know, I confuse myself going back and forth between my main blog and this one. I can't decide whether to post everything on both blogs, just start posting projects on the main blog, with a link to a shorter version here, or what.... What would you do?

I did some Messy Monogram tops for LM and my nephew and posted it on To Be Me. (Thanks to Tanya for the inspiration.)

Quick Project

Over the weekend, I created a little outfit for Little Man to wear for Independence Day.  I'd been meaning to do this for quite some time, and was rummaging through my fabric stacks and spotted the star design. I thought it would be perfect for a celebration outfit.

Later on, after I had to go back and put elastic in the legs because LM's legs are so short, I had a light bulb moment. I decided to put a firecracker on his bottom.

I have one more onesie to do and I may just follow Tanya at FrouFrouBritches and do the messy monogram thing. Or at least an abbreviated version since it's really too long to put on a tiny little onesie.

Final Result

When I posted the picture of K's tree canvases, I didn't have a place to hang them. While visiting J and K this weekend, I took a photo of the final result in their living room. I like the blue of the background against the mocha wall.

I didn't realize it at the time, but after I took the shot, I saw that everything on the sofa was made by me as well. The pillows, the razorback throw and the quilt. I don't think I have that much of my work in my own house. It's sweet that they display all of it.

It was a quick trip, but I got to see my loved ones for a little while. And it's always nice to see your work displayed and someone else enjoying it.

The Power of Three

Three shirts that is...

The two on the right were inspired by Tanya at Trey and Lucy. LeLe and I planned to make Win some the minute we saw them.

The other is from a website LeLe shared with me, and I don't remember where it is. But the 2 is for Win's 2 month birthday which is...July 4th! The stars seemed appropriate.

Believe it or not, the guitar and the 2 fabric came from my old scrub tops. They are very colorful and soft and I thought they'd be perfect for something like this.

Afternoon Session

Our church is giving two sisters a joint baby shower this Sunday afternoon. Along with some baby items I purchased, I thought I'd add some burp cloths. Both are having girls, and their names begin with the letter L.

I whipped these up yesterday afternoon along with one more in a wilder, more fun color.

I'm still working on the Wisteria quilt..... it kind of settles me in the evenings and I wind down. Sort of like a bedtime ritual. I am anxious to get all the squares put together. I think I may be a third of the way finished. Maybe one half. Hard to tell at this point. There is a part of me that often considers using the sewing machine, just to speed things along, but then I talk myself out of it and and glad I do.

I have other projects in the works, and I hope to post pictures soon.

Flowers and Such

As I stated earlier, I'm still working on hand piecing my Wisteria quilt. Here is a picture of what I've accomplished so far.

You can't really tell much about it yet, but I can see it coming together. See the purple on the left? That is part of the wisteria blooming. The green is leaves, brown is stem and blue is sky.

Hand piecing is slow, but it  makes it much easier for me to match the corners. I sit on the couch in the evenings and work on it, while SR watches the Outdoor or History Channel.

So, my Calla Lily I had just about given up on has shown me not to ever give up. Last week I saw this...

I got very excited and could hardly wait until I saw this...

Oh boy oh boy!! And more on the way...

Callas are my favorite of all time. Hydrangeas are second. My neighbor has a huge hydrangea in his yard.

Blue and dark purple/blue are my favorites.

You just have to marvel at a God who comes up with such beauty.

My First Feature!

Oh boy, am I excited! I was featured on The Thriftress!

You post things hoping someone will be interested. And your friends and family usually are, but it's really great to hear from others in blogland who you don't know personally. It's very gratifying but humbling as well. Thanks so much! I really appreciate it.

Go check out her site. She is extremely crafty and creative!

Working On It

I have been working on some things, but the only thing I have to post right now is a picture of pillows I did for J and K, who by the way are now officially engaged. Yay!! Planning an April wedding.

I'm still working on my wisteria quilt, but decided to do it all by hand, so it's going to take a while. I'm enjoying it though. As soon as I get the main section put together, I'll post a pic.
